Teyana Taylor is sending a message to internet gossip fiends: keep her name out of your mouth unless you want to pay up!

During a recent interview, the “Made It” singer addressed a situation involving a TikTok star who shared libelous rumors about her. Specifically, Taylor shared that she’s looking to take legal action against the woman in question.

In late February, a TikToker shared slanderous rumors about Taylor online, as Blavity previously reported.

Some of the claims the TikToker made involved Taylor’s husband, Iman Shupert, cheating on her and sparking a “mental breakdown” in the singer while she was on tour. Additionally, the user alleged that the infidelity sent Taylor into a “candy” binge — an apparent euphemism for “drugs” — resulting in her allegedly being hospitalized.

While the user never explicitly mentioned the singer by name, various clues indicated the artist was Taylor. The person is described as having two daughters, a reality TV show, and a husband who appeared on the show Dancing with the Stars.

The TikToker mentioned that the singer in question addressed being hospitalized in a late November Instagram post, which aligns with Taylor’s timeline.

The singer-turned-reality star blasted the TikToker on social media and denied ever using drugs.

“LETS BE CLEAR she or whoever ‘sent this story in’ ain’t spilling MY TEA cause ain’t mine to spill. ‘Clout’ seems to be the only true ‘CANDY’ involved in this whole situation. Clout chasing ass do anything for views ass bloggers have to stop PREYING on black positive families that are thriving. Instead, start PRAYING for world peace & to bring an end to all the craziness going on out here,” Taylor wrote on Instagram.

The user — @klatschhh — soon deleted the video, though the matter’s still fresh in Taylor’s memory.

She further addressed the rumors during her recent sit-down with EBONY.

“These types of rumors and lies hurt the most because I take pride in being a mother and would never be that irresponsible. I’ve never used drugs a day in my life, nor do I smoke, and only drink occasionally,” Taylor noted. “My health issues were never a secret; we actually outwardly shared them with the world on our reality TV show, We Got Love.”

“I absolutely intend to pursue legal action — not because I’m looking to win a ton of money — but merely because people have to start understanding that this is not OK,” she added. “Their malicious actions and recklessness need to heed some sort of repercussions. Intending to attempt to ruin someone’s life for a story is just simply not OK. I’m not your clickbait. PERIOD!”

Shupert also spoke on the situation during the interview.

“If she did coke, why would I be cool with that? Why would I not care about my kids enough to say, ‘Yo, you can’t be around my kids?’ It’s disrespectful in so many ways that people don’t think through,” he said.

“It’s like a helpless feeling because no matter what we do as far as a narrative when a story like this already has legs, I’m not changing people’s minds with what I say,” Shupert continued. “I just think that it’s crazy that we’re in a year that this is real. Someone can put a story out on this and, whether it’s true or not, it’s going to have whatever effects on the people that are in that story.”

Taylor and Shupert haven’t further spoken on the matter, and the TikTok star has also remained silent.

However, it’s worth noting that the user has since privatized her Instagram account.
