Dawn Richard had some choice words for BET after the entertainment network claimed the singer copied the look of fellow pop songstress Ariana Grande.
What really makes me sad is that @BET has never supported my music or that I’m a black woman trying to break barriers for women in animation. Or that I’ve worked on advancing tech via VR and augmented reality. But you post about a ponytail i wore weeks ago and have already worn. https://t.co/otJt0J2VW6

"What really makes me sad is that @BET has never supported my music or that I'm a Black woman trying to break barriers for women in animation," the former Danity Kane member tweeted on Wednesday.
In a now-deleted tweet, BET posted a side-by-side photo of Richard and Grande.

"Not only is Ariana Grande the most followed person on Instagram now, but her latest ponytail is popping up on the heads of celebs like Dawn Richard. How do you feel about the look?" BET captioned its post. Grande recently became the most-followed woman on Instagram, dethroning singer and actress Selena Gomez.

After sounding off against the network, the 35-year-old posted a second tweet encouraging it to "stop disrespecting Black women."
Stop pitting females against each other. And stop disrespecting black women by making them out to be followers when they have led in most all pivotal moments in society. K. Bye.

This is not the first time BET has been embroiled in controversy surrounding Black women this year. According to ABC News Radio, rapper Nicki Minaj canceled an upcoming engagement with the channel after it disrespected the "Only" artist while simultaneously congratulating fellow rapper Cardi B on her first Grammy win.
