On the latest episode of Shadow And Act’s Facebook Live Q&A series, Locked Down With ___ Sheryl Lee Ralph, who currently stars in Freeform’s Motherland: Fort Salem, discussed how much she would love to be part of both a Sister Act reboot and a Moesha reboot.
“I don’t think I can pick between the two. I’d love to do both of them,” she said. “Those were two really, very great experiences for me.”
Ralph revealed how the cast of Wicked opened her eyes to how much the film and her role as Lauryn Hill’s mother impacted a generation of fans.
“When I went to Broadway to do Wicked, it was there that I realized, within the cast of Wicked, the major impact of Sister Act 2 because when I walked in, they were like, ‘Oh my God! Are you gonna sing your shoulda coulda wouldas?'” she said.
“…It was their love of Sister Act 2,” she continued, referencing the cast’s excitement for her, “and so many young people have gone onto major success.” She also revealed that the African clothing in the film was designed by her and her ex, who ran a boutique at the time.
As we have reported previously, Disney is developing a third Sister Act film. Also, a possible Moesha reboot as been discussed for some time. So with both projects as possibilities, Ralph just might get the chance to make her dream a reality.
