The Trump administration hosted Turning Point USA's Young Black Leaders 2018 Summit, an event for Black conservatives between the ages of 15 and 35, at The White House this week. Speakers included first son Donald Trump Jr., actress Stacey Dash and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson.
Here’s what happened at the Sunken Place Fest, according to people who had the misfortune of attending the event.
1. President Trump addressed the capture of the #MAGAbomber.
Before he began his keynote address, Trump praised law enforcement officials for successfully apprehending Cesar Sayoc, the man authorities believe is responsible for mailing pipe bombs to several Democratic politicians and left-leaning celebrities, reports USA Today.
"I am pleased to inform you that law enforcement has apprehended the suspect and taken him into custody," Trump said. "We must never allow political violence to take root in America."
Trump also asked for unity among the country’s citizens.
"America must unify, and we must show the world that we are united together in peace and love and harmony," Trump said.
This kumbaya call is a marked departure from a tweet he sent Friday morning ahead of the speech:

2. Donald Trump Jr. praised the attendees for their so-called bravery.
Trump Jr. told the group they “have the most guts of anyone in America,” according to Politico. Trump Jr. seems to suggest the summit proves his father is becoming more popular with the Black community.
“They’re resisting the fact that they are losing their stranglehold on entire communities,” he said, referring to Democrats and left-leaning groups. “They just assume they have your vote anyway.”
Trump’s approval rating among Black people sits at 12 percent.
3. Attendees got it out for CNN.

In the middle of Ben Carson’s speech, someone yelled “CNN sucks,” and the rest of the audience began to boo and chant, according to Now This.
Oddly enough, the crowd failed to chant on the beat. And when Trump walked into the room, the crowd couldn’t catch the beat for three letters:

4. Stacey Dash was there, and she’s still as clueless as ever.

She filmed a video at the event with her rumored husband and fellow Trump supporter Jeffrey Marty.
The pair allegedly got married in April after only knowing each other for 10 days, according to Page Six.
5. Trump supporters at the event blamed undocumented people for a decline in Black-owned businesses.
