Issa Rae is about that glamour life, but she not about any Trump co-sign whatsoever. She like, It ain't worth it, Miss Celie, it ain't worth it, about any additional rating points that might come with a presidential thumbs-up.

The Insecure co-creator and star spoke about the matter as she rocked the cover of Glamour Magazine's TV issue. She also reminisced about that dope moment when Michelle Obama confirmed she was a fan of the HBO series.

“She had just finished watching the finale, and she was like, ‘That fakeout — how could you do that? I thought you and Lawrence were going to live happily ever after.’ I was like, ‘You really watch it?’ She was like, ‘Yes. Sasha and Malia put me on to it,’” Rae recalled. “It was like talking to my auntie. It bums me out that I will never have that feeling again of the first family f**king with us so hard and getting us. If Melania [Trump] said that to me, I would be like, ‘Well, I guess it’s canceled. We’re not making this show. It’s not ours anymore.’”

If Melania or her husband-in-chief decide they want to tune into Insecure and end up loving it, Rae is willing to destroy the show like Issa Dee at the end of the second season.

Of course, someone tried it, and told Rae Melania does like the show, perhaps trying to take advantage of the artist's statement to get the show canceled.

Issa, however, had a pertinent response. Will the real Melania please stand up?

Whether the Trumps tune in or not, Rae's overall point was this: Insecure is FUBU. It's for us, and by us.

“I just want to do my pure story, and if I’m not, it’s just not worth it. And Prentice [Penny] feels the same,” she said. “Sometimes the white writers will be like, ‘I didn’t even know what that line meant until I watched the show,’ and I’m like, ‘That’s OK. There are some things that are just for us.'”
