Update (October 11, 2018): Following in his wife’s footsteps, Kanye West met with President Donald Trump at the Oval Office on Thursday, The Hill reports. The two men met to discuss policy items including Chicago's violence and gun control, but the meeting mostly consisted of each man bigging up the other's ego.

As one might imagine, the meeting was packed with interesting quotes. According to The Huffington Post, things kicked off with a 10-minute Kanye West monologue similar to the rapper's SNL rant. While many members of the variety show's cast were underwhelmed by the Chicagoan's talking points, the president reportedly found Ye's words "impressive."

West made it clear during his speech he feels the same way about Trump.

“This is our president; he has to be the freshest, the flyest, the flyest planes, the best factories, and we have to make our core be in power,” Ye said.

The rapper also touched on that MAGA hat he "redesigned" and continues to wear. In the Oval Office, he compared it to a superhero's cape.

“There was something about when I put this hat on it made me feel like Superman,” Ye said. “You made a Superman, that’s my favorite superhero, you made a Superman cape for me.”

Okay…

Kanye also made reference to Joseph Campbell's seminal The Hero with a Thousand Faces, saying President Trump is on a "hero's journey."

“Let’s stop worrying about the future; all we have is today," Ye declared. "Trump is on his hero’s journey right now.”

In explaining his statements about abolishing the 13th Amendment, which keeps Kanye and other minorities free of involuntary servitude, Ye said, “Why would you keep something around that’s a trap door? If you’re building a floor, the Constitution is the base of our industry, of our country, of our company. Would you build a trap door that if you mess up and accidentally something happens, you fall and you end up next to the Unabomber? You got to remove all that trap door out of the relationship.”

In case you’re wondering, the rapper’s still up for a potential president run. But, “only after 2024,” he said. However, Kanye also told Trump, "Time is a myth," so who knows?

According to Yahoo, the president was so happy with how the meeting went that he told reporters he “could see” campaigning with the rapper either in 2020 or 2024.

The reactions to the meeting were almost as notable as the meeting itself. Twitter collectively was like, “WTF is happening?!”

Yeah, that about sums it up.

Original: Kanye West is taking a trip to the White House.

West will meet with Donald Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner on Thursday, reports The New York Times.

The visit will begin with a meeting with Kushner and conclude with lunch with Trump according to White House sources.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said West is visiting to discuss "manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago."

The “I Love It” rapper has been an outspoken supporter of Trump. He sported a “Make America Great Again” hat during his September 29 Saturday Night Live appearance and went on a pro-Trump rant following his performance. SNL didn’t broadcast the spiel, but footage of it was widely circulated online.

"It's so many times that I talk to a white person about this, and they say, 'How could you support Trump? He's racist.' Well, if I was concerned about racism, I would have moved out of America a long time ago," he said. "We don't just make our decisions off of racism. I'mma break it down to you right now … If someone inspires me, and I connect with them, I don't have to believe in all they policies."

He also accused SNL staff of pressuring him to remove his MAGA hat.

"You see they laughing at me. You heard 'em. They scream at me. They bully me. They bullied me backstage. They said, 'Don't go out there with that hat on,’” West said.

Trump later defended West on Twitter:

West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, met with Trump in June to discuss prison reform. The visit led to Trump’s pardon of Alice Johnson.
