How can we forget Magid Magid and all of his U.K. swag? That official photo with the rap squat was everything.
The newly named Lord Mayor of Sheffield promised to be accessible to his constituents, and Magid made good on that promise when he took to Twitter on Tuesday. The mayor issued an open invite for the citizens of Sheffield to join him for a movie night, The Star reports.
So I've just booked my ticket for this Sunday, 20:30 at @showroomcinema . Meet at the cafe at 19:30 for some pre drinks. Hope to see as many of you there as possible ???????????? pic.twitter.com/2ZpPrPEmVq— ????MΛG!D (@MagicMagid) July 24, 2018
“So I've just booked my ticket for this Sunday, 20:30 at @showroomcinema. Meet at the cafe at 19:30 for some pre drinks. Hope to see as many of you there as possible," he tweeted.
Of course, Magid's tweet was a marketing miracle for Showroom Cinema, as rows around his chosen seat quickly sold out. The venue decided to make it a whole event by announcing they were setting up tables for folks to mingle before the movie started.
For everyone who’s coming to our Mamma Mia 2 screening on Sunday with @MagicMagid, we’ve reserved a big table for everyone to come congregate around! If you want to book tickets get them here: https://t.co/pIpPZFQGO7 and don’t forget – if you’re under 26 tickets are just £4.50 ???? pic.twitter.com/0ypwqo1aul— Showroom Cinema (@showroomcinema) July 24, 2018
The night at the show comes not long after Magid became buried under a bit of controversy with his "Sheffield's 10 Commandments" poster, which was displayed at Tramlines Festival, according to iNews.

“Be kind, don’t be a pr*ck, do epic sh*t, see the good, don’t lose hope, do it differently, always buy your round, don’t kiss a Tory, tell ya ma you love her, you’ve got this!” read the poster.
Tory refers to the U.K.'s ruling Conservative Party. Magid is a member of the left-wing Green Party of England and Wales.
Some residents weren't feeling his outward political expression, however.
Hi Magid, I'm a bit uncomfortable w/no.8, tongue in cheek or not it can't help but add to the toxicity that the rest of your platform so successfully goes against. Rethink?— Mia Jankowicz (@miajankowicz) July 21, 2018
I actually agree with most of that but it’d be nice if you left politics out of it. Pushing your own political agenda is not the role of the Lord Mayor.— Pete (@PistolPete1867) July 21, 2018
In response to the criticism, Magid simply tweeted, “Please [don't] take it serious, it’s just tongue and cheek.”
