First folks try to disrespect the Queen of Soul by mixing her up with another black star, and now a younger generation of stars are being forced to suffer the same micro-aggressions.

In August, a photo surfaced of Amandla Stenberg on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet with a short haircut on a media account's Twitter feed. It was a cute photo, but there was an issue with the photo's caption, which read, "@Normani rocks short hair tonight at the #VMAs."

Wait, what?

The Hate U Give actress decided to call out the caption recently. On Instagram, Stenberg posted a screenshot of the caption and wrote, "They really think we all look the same," referring to the former Fifth Harmony member.

This instance is especially egregious because … in what universe does Amandla and Normani look even remotely similar?

As Teen Vogue states, since Stenberg's upcoming film The Hate U Give also tackles black folks dealing with micro-aggressions, this is all cosmic timing.

It seems Kordei also agreed the caption was an epic fail. Stenberg posted a photo of the pair at Tuesday's American Music Awards after the screenshot of the caption. Both stars shrugged, with WTF looks on their faces, which says it all.
