The Southwest Michigan home owned by the late Muhammad Ali has been sold for $2.5 million. According to The Chicago Tribune, Ali's widow, Lonnie Ali, sold the mansion on December 21.

Perched on a bend in the river in Berrien Springs, Michigan, the 81-acre estate boasts a mile of river frontage, a full-size basketball gym, an outdoor kitchen complete with appliances and grills, a gazebo, a fire pit, gardens and an impressive waterfall rock garden.

Even though Ali is a Kentucky native, he lived in South Side Chicago during the mid-1970s. The Olympic medalist purchased the home for $400,000 in 1975.

The massive property has eight buildings in total, with the main house being a 3,960 square foot residence. In addition to a boxing ring, the other seven plots include a combined office and boxing ring and two climate-controlled garages.

The Mirror writes that located inside the boxing legend's gym is a life-size statue of Ali, as well as the iconic photo of him looking over longtime rival Sonny Liston in their rematch.

When the property was first listed, Lonnie priced it at $2,895,037. The distinct price is of significance to the Ali family. The 37 pays homage to Ali's career knockouts.

As for lucky buyer of the historic farm? The Mirror reports that a Muslim non-profit located in New York purchased the residence from Indiana and Michigan licensed real estate firm Cressy & Everett Real Estate.
