Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant learned he had to navigate the internet a bit differently due to his fame as one of the top NBA players in the world.
During a recent sit-down with ESPN's Jay Williams on the show The Boardroom, the former basketball player asked Durant about why he chose to use a burner Twitter account.
The San Francisco Gate reported in 2017 that the 30-year-old used a secret Twitter profile to post controversial tweets about his old teammates.
Durant is known for using his @KDTrey5 handle on Twitter, but two years ago fans learned about an additional account associated with the small forward. When he accidentally used his official Twitter account to bash former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Billy Donovan and others, many fans' speculation was confirmed.

Now, it has become a common practice for the world champion. Durant told Williams he wants to have a private place online to speak to close friends and family.
"I wasn't used to that amount of attention, you know, from playing basketball," Durant said. "I wanted a place where I can talk to my friends without anybody just butting in my conversations, or mixing my words, or taking everything out of context because I enjoyed that place."
It is no secret Durant has a strong dislike for media. In the past, he has called sports reporters "blog boys" for their alleged sensationalism regarding his life. To avoid personal details from becoming media stories, he started using a "finsta," a fake Instagram account, for friends and family.
"I [tried] to live a normal life out in the public, I guess," Durant said.
The extra precautions have yet to prevent Durant from being significant sports news. He is, in fact, one of the stars of the best team in the league.
