Organic farmer Kyle Greene has left the masses confused with his latest campaign video. As he runs for a seat in the House, he's taken a new advertising approach by referring to himself as a "n****r."
“I want to be your state representative, I want to be your public servant, and I want to be your n****r,” Greene says in the video posted to Facebook.
Greene, who is currently running as an Independent, says the use of the word comes with his desire to encourage people to focus on “the real issues at hand.”
“We need to unify as a society, and we need to stop dealing with trivial matters,” Greene said, according to the Star Tribune. “The word … is part of the American history, regardless of the race. … It’s part of my history being African American, white and Cherokee Indian.”
While Greene says he doesn't have plans of trying to broaden his reach with digital purchasing of ad space, his unorthodox first commercial has still managed to get nearly 50,000 views.
"Our elected representative's duty is to protect the rights and privileges of their constituents from all government encroachment," his website says of current Republican Representative Dean Urdahl. "This isn't happening."
Greene believes Urdahl has been ignoring judicial corruption, stating "the system is incarcerating people who shouldn’t be locked up."
While his take on the corruption of the system is fair enough, opening himself up to be anyone's "n****r" seems a bit like Uncle Tom's Cabin. As election season is upon us, we'll see how this strange approach worked for him.
