They work your nerves like no other, but you couldn't imagine life without them standing to your left and right. Life would be pretty boring and you'd probably have a criminal record. Best friends are reserved for keeping your head on straight and bringing out your best petty. Here are 10 types of best friends you can't live without.

This friend can never hang out for long because they have to get home to their family. You've babysat for them a bunch of times and you typically don't mind because you love their kids. They seem to have it all. A great career, a spouse that loves them, beautiful children and a huge house. But you know the grass isn't always greener because they call you with their family issues way too often. You're there for them whenever they need you because you remember how you used to turn up together back in the day!

2. The Single Best Friend

This friend is always on the prowl for a mate. They've been single for years but they won't give up. You've tried hooking them up with some of your other friends but it usually falls through some way or another. This friend needs your guidance though. They hold on a little too tight sometimes and you have to keep it real more often than not. But at the core of everything, you just want them to be happy. It'll take a special someone to lock them down.

Can't take them NOWHERE! This friend is loud, impatient and unapologetically themselves. They have no cares about what people think of them and they're constantly reminding you to care less. You admire them because they have a great way of breaking down complex rhetoric into simple, easy to understand terms. They always leave you thinking, "Why didn't I think of that?" This friend makes you laugh the hardest out of all your friends with they're outrageous antics. Although they've embarrassed you a time…or five, you appreciate them because they live life with no limits. You lowkey want to be more like them.

When it is time to do something crazy and outrageous, you know who to call. They will always indulge you in your crazy schemes. This friend never tells you no. You can do no wrong in their eyes. If you were to ever rob a bank, you'd do it with this friend. They're dependable, discrete and savvy. They anticipate your needs and have what you're looking for before you even ask. You keep them close because you know the value of a ride or die.

5. The Holier–Than–Thou Best Friend

This friend keeps you rolling your eyes. They're always inviting you to their eight-hour long church service but you can't ever seem to commit to going. They have a scripture for every situation and never fail to remind you of your sin. You've had a couple of spiritual debates with this friend and you're constantly learning from them. Although they can be kind of judgy, you love them because their disciplined, intelligent and know where the best brunch spots are. Your parents want you to be more like them, but you just can't seem to put the Henny down.

This friend is forever ready to throw them hands. You're always calming them down. They get offended at the slightest comment and it's usually at the worst times. They show up to any, and I mean any, occasion with the liquor. They know how to mix every drink in the book. They can always find a reason to drink. You call them when you need a good turn up! Unfortunately, you constantly have to drag this friend to safety when the night is done. But keep it real, you know you had a blast and you'll be ready when they call next weekend. (or tomorrow)

This friend is always in dire need. They're dramatic AF. They blow your phone up just to ask if you've seen the latest episode of Empire. They need your opinion on everything! It seems like they won't brush their teeth if you don't tell them what type of toothpaste to use. They call you every day before work, on your lunch break and after work. And you better not miss their call because then you'd have to explain yourself. They get jealous of your other friends too. Sometimes you wonder if this friend confuses you for their spouse. But you put up with them because you love their charisma and loyalty. They keep you laughing and you know they'd be there whenever you need them. If only you could find some balance.

This friend is also always in need. But usually, it requires more than just your attention. They are forever hitting you up for favors. They always need help, stay wearing your clothes, and you never see those DVDs again when you let them borrow. You usually can find the "life of the party" best friend hanging with the "single" and "drunk" best friend. If they're at the party, you know it's LIT!
