Drake's "In My Feelings" song from his new album Scorpion has reached new heights of popularity thanks to folks across the internet showing their love for the song by dancing to it on social media. What you may not know is a song by the City Girls, "F*ck Dat N*gga" helped inspire the Drake hit.


Drake is a big fan of the Miami duo made up of rappers JT and Yung Miami, even shouting them out on his song.

“How did Drake know us? We just some random hood City Girls. How he heard our music? For him to just follow us, not even knowing he knew our music, it’s like people is really paying attention to us," said the duo in an interview with Rap-Up. The song "F*ck Dat N*gga" comes from the City Girls' Quality Control Presents: Control the Streets, Vol. 1 compilation.

Although the duo has now found new success, their activity will be curtailed for a little while.

One half of the duo, JT (born Jatavia Johnson), recently turned herself into authorities concerning credit card fraud charges, Billboard reports. JT is currently being held in Miami's Federal Detention Center, and is scheduled to be released from prison March 21, 2020. 

Drake supported JT in City Girls' Instagram comment section stating, "Damn free my shorty."

City Girls recently released their debut album Period in May.
