Did you know LeBron James and Kevin Durant had bars?
The two basketball stars got into the recording booth and laid down a track during the famous 2011 NBA lockout, the fourth in the professional organization's history. At the time, James was disappointed over losing his first NBA Finals and Durant was heading toward into his fourth season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to KNBR.
In 2017, a snippet of the track was released, and Ben Shigel, who owned the studio the two players recorded in, dished a little about the ballers' lyrical dexterity to Complex. At the time, Shigel called the song "a quality track" featuring lyrics he believed were "surprisingly well-crafted and delivered."
The track has now been released in full.
Commenters on Soundcloud seemed the favor Durant's verse over King James'. Perhaps Durant's most memorable on the track addresses his haters, something very relevant today given the anger around his decision to abandon the Thunder for the Golden State Warriors.
“I got the money, but that’s the root of all evil. I stayed the same, but it’s changing all the wrong people,” Durant raps. “Every hater all the same, I feelin’ like the world is Skip Bayless and I’m LeBron James.”
